Boost Your Boating Safety: WIN First Aid Kits & an AED!

Red first aid bag and tools

The Chicago Harbor Safety Committee (CHSC) is committed to making our waterways safer for everyone. That’s why their Recreational Vessel Education Task Force launched a series of exciting initiatives for 2024-25, focusing on boater education and rewarding your dedication to marine safety.

Your Education, Your Chance to Win: First Aid & AED Giveaway

Formal First Aid, CPR, and AED training can be the difference between life and death on the water. To encourage this vital training, the CHSC is giving away:

  • Twelve Free USCG-Approved First Aid Kits: To be awarded to twelve lucky boaters who complete a combined First Aid, CPR, and AED course.
  • One Grand Prize AED: One entrant will win an AED to add to their vessel’s life-saving equipment.

This exciting initiative, championed by Captain Jerry Miarecki and the CHSC Recreational Boater Education Task Force, brings awareness to the difference an educated boater can make!

How to Enter:

  1. Get Certified: Complete a combined First Aid, CPR, and AED course between January 1, 2024, and March 30, 2025. To ensure the quality of your training, seek courses delivered by certified instructors from established providers, such as the American Red Cross.
  2. Submit Your Certificate: Send a copy or photo of your completion certificate to our Recreational Sector Educational Subcommittee Chairman by March 30. Email: Gmiarecki@comcast.net Text Photo: 312-310-6398
  3. Automatic Entry: All submissions will be entered into a random number generator program.
  4. Winners Announced: Awardees will be drawn on April 1 and presented at the CHSC quarterly meeting on April 9.

Why This Matters:

An educated boater is a safe boater. By equipping yourself with essential life-saving skills, you’re not only protecting yourself but also contributing to a safer boating environment for everyone.
