Event Chairman Walter Lisowski, better known as Captain Sonny, has dedicated a decade to this annual event that brings boaters from Chicago and surrounding states together. Despite facing significant health challenges in recent years, his passion for the role remains undimmed, driven by a profound desire to give back to the boating community. His leadership fosters a sense of camaraderie and shared purpose among enthusiasts.

“Sometimes you wind up in a place, and you just don’t know how you got there. There’s a saying that no one does it better than one who cares. I care and always have for those who struggle in life. I give back in every way I can. God blessed me, and He wants me to give back.”                                                                 -Walter Lisowski, aka Captain Sonny

Captain Sonny’s journey is one of unexpected paths and unwavering commitment. His deep-seated conviction to help others is evident in every aspect of his work, reflecting a life guided by compassion and generosity. His story, a testament to resilience and altruism, will be explored further in an upcoming blog.
